Liquid Oxygen Injection Q & A Answer to a fellow Petroleum Professionals at Technical Interest Group (spe.org)! oil@lenandersen.com                                   Next

    Sir,
The papers (SPE Papers 23183 / 30994)are from about 10 years ago. Reference your view that "sometimes good technology is overlooked". One of the reasons I expended approximately +100 thousand 1990 dollars and more than a year of full time effort to produce those two papers, is what happened at an Society of Petroleum Engineers SPE Annual Meeting. I was joking with the Blow Out fellows on the basis that liquid oxygen injection was the best thing that could happen for them. Ten feet away two gentlemen were looking at me and one with a look of amazement said, "Look at him he is joking with the blowout Specialist. Over twenty men in the State of Texas have been killed infringing on his patent before the Texas Railway Commission stepped in and God knows how many overseas. I have since heard the number is over 100. My experience includes ones residing approximate to my residence claiming to have stolen and answered my mail, and to have impersonated me on my incoming calls etc etc . I was hearing +20 to 100 being murdered pursuant to fraud exploitive of an invention of mine.

In total my experience is that good technology is kept confidential for commercial gain and according to court record it can exploited for criminal gain.
        Relative to your technical concerns.
    1. Where's it been used successfully?
Yes! Both in commercial and technical terms. Other than my work I have not seen any written materials, or have I seen work being do with liquid oxygen and/or with water-liquid oxygen mixtures. I have been told of field test in USA being done from 1981 on. Full field development work on going in the USA, Saudi Arabia, Canada and elsewhere in the world.
